Founder and CEO

Simon Wear, Founder and CEO

A media executive with unrivalled experience, Simon created BikeRadar.com from scratch and commercially reinvented Cyclingnews.com. In 2010 Simon founded SHIFT Active Media – a new agency business model – and in 2012, launched the Global Cycling Network. Now a world leading brand on YouTube, GCN paved the way for the establishment of the Play Sports Network.

Andrew Croker
Chairman

Andrew Croker, Chairman

The former Executive Chairman of digital sports rights agency Perform Group PLC, Andrew remains an adviser to the group and is also a consultant to Hawk-Eye Innovations – the global leader in ball tracking technology. Andrew has more than 30 years of experience in the sports management and media business. He was the first Head of Sport at BSB, the forerunner to Sky Sports, and established and ran IMG’s Worldwide Football Division. Andrew has experience of working with many of the biggest rights holders, media owners, agencies and sports brands in the world and has helped many of them navigate the complex world of professional sport.

Oliver Slipper
Non-Executive Director

Oliver Slipper, Non-Executive Director

For the last eight years Oliver Slipper has been co-CEO of the digital sports content provider, PERFORM Group. Before joining the PERFORM Group he was the Chief Executive Officer of Premium TV before its merger with the Inform Group in 2007. During his tenure at Premium TV Oliver was promoted to the roles of Commercial Director in 2003, and then to Chief Executive Officer in 2005 – a role he held for two years. He brings a wealth of digital media experience, with an emphasis on web-TV and mobile services, and commercial strategy. He remains a Non-Executive Director for the PERFORM Group alongside his Play Sports Network role.

Mia Walter, Managing Director

Mia has over 20 years’ experience in entertainment, music and cycling media sectors, delivering growth through digital development. Mia leads the day-to-day management and the ongoing development of the Play Sports Network and its channels, and is YouTube Certified in Audience Development and Advanced Digital Rights.

Marc Bearman
Partnerships Director

Marc Bearman, Partnerships Director

Marc has vast experience in sports marketing, having worked in senior roles at the major agencies, IMG and JMI, and in football, Olympic Games and Formula 1. He has managed the world’s biggest commercial sports partnerships at FIFA and with the London 2012 Organising Committee. As a professional athlete Marc was a member of the British Olympic Development Team and UK Sport World Class Performance Programme, representing his country at European, World Student and World Championships in triathlon. Later he held a Swiss Pro/Elite road cycling racing license, racing for the MTN cycling team.

Mike Faxholm, Commercial Director

Mike has over 14 years of experience in the technology and advertising industries working in a variety of business development roles with UK broadcasters, including 6 ½ years at ITV. Before joining Play Sports Network Mike was the European VP of a VC-backed ad-tech startup for over 2 years. He is also a passionate cyclist and has 10 years experience running a cycle distribution and custom-bike-building business.

Richard Spilsbury
Corporate Development Director

Richard Spilsbury, Corporate Development Director

Richard was formerly Corporate Development Director at Future Plc and other media experience includes working with Time Inc, and Immediate Media based around strategy, corporate finance, transformation and insight. His work has included the development and implementation of high growth strategies for TechRadar, data, e-commerce, social media and revenue development for digital properties, creative marketing and agency activities.  Richard leads development of Play Sports Network's revenue strategy including the retail business, development of marketing materials, client reporting, business intelligence and insight. Richard is a Chartered Accountant and used to work at PwC.

Jamie Gatley

Jamie Gatley, Partnerships Manager

Having previously worked at Red Bull, Jamie has over seven years experience at the forefront of sports marketing. He has developed and delivered multiple international events, including the Red Bull Hardline, and was responsible for 20 of the world’s best athletes, including downhill mountain bike siblings Dan, Gee and Rachel Atherton. During this time he worked alongside a number of the biggest sports brands and re-ignited his love for all things bike.
